Fandom Brainstorming For Yuletide 2012. Nominations begin later this month. I’ve been planning my nominations for a few months now. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: 1996 will be in one of the three slots, since I’ve already come up with a prompt. If someone else nominates Ghostbusters and Dark Shadows (90’s version) then I won’t need to, and I can go for the original Fright Night. For the final nomination, it depends on which one of these people want to see end up on the list more: The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra, Mr. Boogedy, The Librarian series of movies, Fred Saberhagen’s Dracula novels, Innocent Blood (1992), or The Mercury Men.

Peter Halliday has passed away at the age of 87. May he rest in peace. He was in 23 episodes of Doctor Who, and had roles in The Avengers, The Saint, and several other shows. I remember that he also played a psychiatrist in the Vincent Price movie Madhouse.

The 20 Most Beautiful Bookstores In The World.

Thanks to the Ghostbusters PDF ebook Preservation Project, you can now download a copy of Ghostbusters: The Return. I’m lucky enough to have found a physical copy of that rare novel when it was first published, and will confirm it’s worth reading.

New set photos from Star Trek 2, involving a scene between Benedict Cumberbatch, Zachary Quinto, and Zoe Saldana.

Weekend Discussion Thread: Great Scenery-Chewers In MSTed Movies.

Topless Robot’s latest contest: Describe what you would consider Nerd Heaven or Nerd Hell. For Heaven, I came up with this scenario: Ghostbusters 3 gets made using the script where they all went to Hell (which was in Development Hell for a long time), all actors return, it doesn't implode horrifically, Ivan Reitman produces, and Christopher Nolan gives his input to keep things in check. So it can be as dark and scary as need be, with some good comedy that doesn’t veer into Adam Sandler territory by mistake. Liam Neeson as the villain. That, or Neil Gaiman taking over Doctor Who after Moffat.

Now, a meme—I’m just spreading it along. I’m not into music and wouldn’t know of anything for a response.
Comment with a song that makes you think of me, and I will return the favor!

And answering this one again:

Tell me you want to play and I'll pick up to three of your fandoms. Then update your journal and answer the following questions:

1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?
4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?

Answering these questions for the following fandoms: The Librarian, Ghostbusters, Dark Shadows, Sherlock, Torchwood, and Highlander. Cut due to length. )

From Cracked: The 7 Most Offensive Adaptations of Classic Comic Books. #1 on their list is the Generation X tv movie.

20 Heroic Librarians Who Save The World. Pretty much everyone I could think of was listed—including The Librarian movies, Evie from The Mummy, and Giles.

Sylvester McCoy is another that has been cast in The Hobbit. He will reportedly play Radagast the Brown.

In other news, I found out something about the movie shown after the Zombie Walk. It’s the 2004 version of Dawn of the Dead—not interested in seeing that, which leaves me free to go to The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Also? Thanks to a post by [livejournal.com profile] cinemassacre, I found out that Rifftrax Live is doing the original House on Haunted Hill on October 28th. Normally, that sort of thing doesn’t show up in the theaters around here. For once? It will be at a theater near the mall at 7 PM. So now I’m trying to decide if I want to go see that, too. I love Vincent Price movies, and I like the Rifftrax guys.

[Poll #1635312]

As a sidenote, I see that I need to find a Vincent Price icon. Bela will do for now.

John Barrowman broke a cab. Found the link via this post at [community profile] barrowmanfans.

The DOS attacks on Livejournal, Twitter, Facebook—and, apparently, Youtube—were all aimed at one person.

You can watch an interview with David Tennant, concerning his hosting of Masterpiece Theatre, and culture, over here. Doctor Who, Harry Potter, and Hamlet are also mentioned.

Neil Gaiman And The Power of Storytelling.

For those interested, the first two Librarian movies are airing today, starting at 4 PM CST—on TBS.

Apparently, David Tennant has slipped a disc, and needs back surgery tomorrow.

ABC will be making a pilot based on the comic Fables.

For those that are interested, there will be a season 2 of Merlin. On a slightly (barely) related note, I’ve downloaded the second episode of season 1, and I’ll watch it later.

For anyone that hasn’t run across it, [community profile] fandom_stocking is sort of like [community profile] yuletide. Give me a little while, and I’ll edit in where my stocking’s located.

Oh, and since it was mentioned in the comments of a locked post of mine, for anyone that didn’t see it, [personal profile] frenchroast made a group for fans of The Librarian trilogy. [community profile] librarian_films.
