The Seven Things Meme
Mar. 21st, 2012 04:20 pmComment to this post, and I will list seven things I want you to talk about. They might make sense or they might be totally random. Then post that list, with your commentary, to your journal. Other people can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself.

Taken from
selenak, this one seems to work for both RPG's as well as fanfic:
If you were asked to pick one scene, one shot, one detail, one moment of some kind out of all the things I've made and say "This, this, for whatever reason, I remember, this is something that struck home with me, that I wanted to keep," what would it be?

Fannish Items of Interest, Plus Two Memes
Mar. 15th, 2011 03:00 pmA fourth season has been confirmed for Being Human.
The Russian trailer for X-Men: First Class includes a bit of footage not previously seen in the English version. Read the comments at Blastr, since someone translated the text and dialogue into English. You get to see Magneto in his helmet. The other difference is there’s music in place of the JFK speech.
The idea of a Sandman series is dead again.
The preview for Red Nose Day includes a short clip of the Doctor Who segment.
10 Coolest Time Machines In The Space-Time Continuum. Yes, the Delorean and TARDIS are included.
And now, a couple of RPG related memes that I want to do--taken from racetrack and loveologist, over on Insanejournal:
Give me one of your characters and one of mine, and I will give you their top three Texts From Last Night.
and
Name one of my characters and one of yours. I'll show you three icons displaying expressions that my character frequently makes when interacting with yours, and explain why.
Or in this case, as I only have the one character: Give me yours, and I’ll do that. Just let me know which meme (or if it’s both) it’s for when you comment. Crossing my fingers that the comments come to me now, now that I've switched notifications to Gmail.

Yuletide Progress And A Meme
Nov. 27th, 2010 11:10 amAs of this moment, the Yuletide fanfic word count is 3143 words. I'm still adding things to the end and making corrections here and there, but I'm nearly finished.
For a short break, here's an RPG related meme taken from a few people on my IJ friends list:

Fannish Items--And A Moment of Horror
Aug. 9th, 2010 11:19 amRussell T. Davies gives the plot synopsis for the new season of Torchwood.
Bloody Disgusting lists the best horror themed commercials of decades past. And then Io9 focuses on one with Vincent Price—and one where the creature from the Alien movies is in a Pepsi commercial.
The Favorite Thing About You Meme. My thread is here.
Meanwhile, we suspect someone tried to kill Toby on Saturday night. I normally go over to see how he is around 6:30 AM, on the days they aren’t home next door, or just to see him. Yesterday morning I didn’t. I’m glad I didn’t.
( Cut here, to keep anyone eating from being sickened by a description of what Dad found. )

Jun. 30th, 2010 04:14 pmI don’t believe the bookies that think the Eleventh Doctor’s regeneration would come soon. And if it did? My ideal Twelfth Doctor would be Peter Wingfield.
Another rumor making the rounds, highly likely to be false, is that Johnny Depp is going to be in an American version of Doctor Who as the Doctor. Besides, I think the actor has enough things on his plate, and wouldn’t have the time to do a tv show, too. Just check out his IMDB page—14 things in development, one filming, three in post-production, and one in production.
Since Jeph Loeb will oversee Marvel-related television shows, Io9 has posted a recap of what Marvel has made so far, in the live action department. Follow the links and remember (or discover) just how bad the Generation X tv movie was. I’m amused to say that I have this on DVD—I actually tracked it down through Ebay a few years back. I believe a New Mutants series would be interesting, and the whole Limbo storyline could be an ongoing arc. I don’t think it would ever happen, but it’s still an interesting idea.
blognewsarama has a clip from the live action Power Pack pilot that was never picked up.
The 10 Best Beat-‘Em-Ups (Arcade Games) of All Time. The X-Men arcade game (the one based on Pryde of the X-Men) is listed, as is the one for The Simpsons. I remember playing the latter when I stumbled across a Chuck E. Cheese in Memphis one year. 1991 is when it was released, so it was probably then.
And lastly, three RPG related memes that have been going around my friends list.
You give me any character or characters that I have played (past or present) and I will give you 1-3 links or images of alternate Played-Bys for the character. I might even explain the choice(s).
Give me two or more characters, and I will tell you what happens when they are trapped in a mountain cabin together.
Name one of my characters and one or more others, and I will tell you what happens when they are stranded on a desert island together. How did they get there? What is the island like? Do they get off? Etc.
With the last two, as I only play one character—Meggan—it’s her, plus whatever other character you choose to be trapped with her in those situations.
ETA: According to comments on my friends list, comment notifications seem to be down at the moment. So please be patient if I haven't replied to something, as I probably don't know about it yet.

Fannish Items of Interest
Jul. 31st, 2009 12:40 pmFirst of all, I have to recommend this fanfic. Set during The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit, it’s not Toby that gets possessed by The Beast. It’s Rose. From there, it’s a wonderfully written story of how the Doctor tries to save her—and the battle within, as well. Battle (Cast Out the Shadows Mix)—written by
rynne.
Another movie is getting a remake—this time, it’s The Secret of NIMH. It will be in the style of that CGI Alvin and the Chipmunks movie.
How television can be considered a best friend. It took a scientific study for them to realize that people can get really attached to certain characters. And going by the comments, looks like quite a few people had their sanity saved by TNG back in middle or high school.
BBC America will air future episodes of Doctor Who faster from now on, and uncut. At least on the premiere airing.

Jul. 21st, 2009 02:49 pmFrom Cracked.com: 7 Fatal Injuries (That People Somehow Survived).
Being Human premieres on BBC America this Saturday.
At
metaquotes, someone did a great prank involving The Master and The Sound of Drums. It’s hysterical, and you can find it here. Read the comments in the original post, too, since they tell the progress of it all.
The You’re Just This Awesome Meme. My thread is here.
I just had a thought about Children of Earth—considered doing an LJ cut, but it’s not really a spoiler. In the parallel universe, they’re slightly ahead of the regular one, going by the stars going out there first. So they would have gotten the 456 first. Meaning that the clone Doctor would be over there to help--and that he wouldn’t have to do a thing, because Jackie would slaughter them all for daring to speak through her little boy. Because don’t you think little Tony Tyler would be doing the “WE ARE COMING” thing, too?
Without waiting for Rose or the clone Doctor, Jackie would simply raid Torchwood’s stash of alien weapons and attack. *laughs* And I really want to see a story written that has them dealing with the 456
And…just wondered what would happen to the clone Doctor. If he were technically alive for 6 months when the mess started, and didn’t have hormones going wild just yet, would the 456 be able to speak through him? Or not, since he’s just part-human and technically an adult? I had the weird image of Jackie slapping him to snap him out of it, and being worried when he didn’t immediately run.

It aired on USA in 1994. You can watch the intro here—yes, it’s just as bad as it looks. I remember watching VR Troopers (here’s the intro) around the same time, too. (I can’t think of anything about plotlines, but I definitely remember the intro.)
And lastly, the Meggan PB poll is currently at a tie, if anyone out there would be kind enough to break it. Please go here for the poll.

Ghostbusters, And More...
Mar. 28th, 2008 01:13 pmI’m going to be recommending Ghostbusters stories for
crack_van during the month of April. (I just found out earlier.) Does anyone on my friends list happen to know if Robyn Thurman’s fanfics (specifically Looking Glass, and the one before that which I have in fanzine form) are still archived anywhere? I have most of her stories saved to my external hard drive, and read them from time to time, and they are great. However, I doubt I’ll be able to rec her stories unless I have a link available.

The Hypothetical AU Meme: Take any one of the fandoms you know I write AND give me a type of AU (space opera AU, pirate AU, superhero AU, etc.). I will then explain what story from that fandom I would write for that AU.
In other news, there’s currently a two way tie in the Meggan poll. If it’s still tied by tomorrow afternoon, I’ll either start a poll with just the two of them, or just…close my eyes and pick one. Heh.

Give me two characters from different fandoms you know I'm familiar with, and I'll give you a dialogue happening between the two of them. Without justifying how the crossover would work, how their worlds clashed, or how they could even meet each other. Just a silly crossover conversation with no backstory, for fun.
Fandoms I'm familiar with include: Highlander, Torchwood, Doctor Who, Veronica Mars, Dark Shadows, Ghostbusters, Buffy, Angel, X-Men, Xena, Hercules, Smallville, Firefly, Sherlock Holmes, Heroes, Good Omens, and Batman. Only just started watching Life on Mars (I'm on episode 2, I think) but I'll throw that one in, too. Oh, and Stargate SG-1 up until the time they met the Ori, or whatever they were called.
ETA: Just remembered a few more I left out. Star Trek: TOS, and Star Trek: DS9.
In other news, that Dani Moonstar poll (in the previous post) will be closing around 5 PM today, so if you haven't already voted, please do. I think we're currently at a tie.

Veronica Mars: Solve the mystery of which character I am most like. I’m on page 2 of the comments.
By the way, does anyone know if there is one of these memes for the Buffyverse?
And now, for the sad news. I just heard that Dan Curtis died this morning. I don’t know any details as of yet, and only just heard about it through the Dark_Shadows Yahoo Group. May he rest in peace.
ETA: Okay, I checked around and his death is mentioned at the IMDB message board for his entry. You have to be a member to be able to read it, though. Dan Curtis’ wife had died on March 7 of this year, as well.
ETA2: According to Shadowgram, he was diagnosed with brain cancer 4 months ago, and that was the cause of his death.
