All comments have imported successfully for [community profile] librarian_films and [community profile] relation_ships as of half an hour ago. I discovered and cleaned up one case of Russian spam in the form of a truly massive wall of text in a comment of the latter from about a year ago, which went unnoticed (but screened, even following the import) until now.

As planned, both communities were deleted from the Livejournal side once I made certain that everything was in order. Following input in favor of not going that route, I plan to leave [community profile] big_damn_quests in both places. It's safely backed up here on Dreamwidth, should anything worse remove it over there.

[community profile] big_damn_quests has successfully imported all the comments. So that’s done. I added a note on the user info page to stress that the community is there for archival purposes.

If you are going to primarily post on Dreamwidth, and would prefer that I remove you from my friends list on the Livejournal side, please let me know and I’ll do it promptly.

According to the notification in my Inbox, as of 8 hours ago the import of all journal entries was a success for [community profile] big_damn_quests. I’m currently waiting for the comments to finish being imported, and the community will be over here in its entirety.

Before you delete your Livejournal account, if you plan to do so? Or even just if you’re planning to stay, and don’t plan to delete it, you may desire to claim your Open ID account anyway. It’s one of the many links in the Dreamwidth Starter Kit that [personal profile] bisharp made, but I thought I’d do a separate post on the topic, just in case anyone missed it.

As an example, back when I did it, I simply typed in calliopes-pen.livejournal.com and calliopes-pen.insanejournal.com.

Once you’ve done that, older comments that you made that were imported from both Livejournal and Insanejournal immediately become linked to your Dreamwidth account. So calliopes-pen.insanejournal.com becomes calliopes_pen in whatever journal, and goes straight here when clicked on. A user icon will then appear beside it, just as it once did wherever the comment originated.

(Expect it to take a while longer to import your journals, too, if you haven’t seen that update already. It’s still going quite admirably as it tries to bring over [community profile] big_damn_quests. As of this moment, it’s 1614 others waiting in the queue, after a day. I’m amused, more than anything. I’m just glad the site hasn’t broken from the strain.)

Since it was pretty much a resounding yes in the poll, I am in the process of importing [community profile] big_damn_quests on over to Dreamwidth at this very moment. The group was made, the profile and one (the only one there) icon were transferred over successfully. The entries and comments are on their way. It's currently over 1000 people deep for the queue, so I know to be patient.

Perhaps it’s due to the comments being screened, but I didn’t receive the notifications for the love meme. I happened to glance in, and just saw them. Thank you (each of you will see my thanks over there, too, when those comments are unscreened) so much for the kind words and hearts, [personal profile] alexseanchai, [personal profile] azurelunatic, and [personal profile] elistaire. They are truly greatly appreciated.

I was looking through the payment history tab on Livejournal to see just how long I’ve had my Permanent Account over there...and how long I’ve been on LJ as a whole. My account was created on November 10th, 2003, so I’ve been there for nearly 14 years. I obtained the Permanent Account in June of 2005. I renamed my journal in October of that same year.

Back then, my username was faith_of_borg; when I began to gradually move away from my interests in both Buffy and Star Trek, I wanted a username that I wouldn’t really drift away from liking. I didn’t want one that focused on one particular fandom, just in case I jumped ship. I always enjoyed mythology, and eventually picked what I have these days.

As of right now, it’s looking like I will definitely be bringing [livejournal.com profile] big_damn_quests over to Dreamwidth. 8 votes in favor, 0 against. I remember what it was like when Greatestjournal disappeared before I could think to save a lot of fannish history in groups I enjoyed. Hence my whole ‘do it while there’s still time’ mentality for archiving.

After finally reading through the entirety of the [livejournal.com profile] strega_willow journal, I decided that it was best to delete it. The icons (one of which I'm using for this post) were salvaged prior to its deletion.

Now, since I’m the owner of [livejournal.com profile] big_damn_quests, I thought I would leave its fate up to a poll. Keep in mind it would be for archival purposes if it were imported.

I created the poll on the Dreamwidth side. For those on the Livejournal side (if I made another poll, in another post, it would just get imported separately the next time I did that), feel free to chime in via comments. I’ll give it a deadline of Tuesday morning, and combine all the votes then.

Today is the last day that you can sign up for a character on [community profile] big_damn_quests. Challenges start tomorrow.

Everyone has until the end of the day to sign up for anyone else they want. Book is still open, as are most of the minor characters.

Feel free to spread the word.

[community profile] big_damn_quests is still in need of a Zoe, River, Book, and Jayne. Or any other character that has appeared in the series. Those on my Friends List? Feel free to advertise in either your own journal, or a group.

The start date for challenges will likely be the beginning of April.

I would advertise in the group where I first asked if anyone was interested--but I have no idea what group that was in. This is what happens when you are in literally hundreds of groups...

First of all: A relative sent me the weirdest video of all time. Someone actually takes their horse to McDonald’s, lets it ride in the car, lets it sleep in a bed of its own, etc... It has to be seen to be believed. From what I understand, it’s actually someone that lives in the state--I don’t know if it’s nearby or not.

Next: There was a bit of bad weather yesterday. Actually, a tornado, along with a thunderstorm, and wind up to 70 mph. The wind was so strong that it caused a tree to fall over at my grandmother’s former house. There isn’t even a stump left--it was a clean slice. The tree was over 50 years old, as near as anyone can tell. (Dad remembers it from when he was very little, so it’s older than him.) And if it had fallen a little more in the opposite direction, it would have taken out half of her house, and a neighbor’s as well. As it is, it only destroyed the old clothes line that hadn’t been used in 5 years.

From all the rain, the front yard was flooded. The field behind our backyard looked like a river or lake. Mom took pictures, and when they’re developed I’ll post them here.

Oh, also? Dad drove home during everything, and made it home right before the tornado hit. There’s a one road bridge that Dad takes to get home. Just as he turned he noticed that the bridge was gone (completely gone) from the high waters. He quickly took another way home.

Because of all the madness, I missed the first 20 minutes of American Idol. Thankfully, the power didn’t go out and I was able to watch TV--and they didn’t send home anyone until after I started watching. Unfortunately, the power did go out for my aunt, and only came back this morning.

And on a much lighter note, that Firefly group that [personal profile] hopefulnebula and I made? (The one that is similar to [profile] btvsats_20.) Applications open today. The group is [community profile] big_damn_quests. I’m going to advertise in a few Firefly related groups later, once we have a banner. Challenges and everything should start at the beginning of April.

And, finally, a quiz. It’s been posted a few times before, but it’s apparently going around the Friends List again.

ExpandThe quiz is beneath the cut. )
