Howard Witt passed away on June 21st, at the age of 85. May he rest in peace.

He will always be most famous to me as the title character of Mr. Boogedy (aka William Hanover, prior to becoming a ghost in the film) from Mr. Boogedy (1986) and its sequel Bride of Boogedy (1987).

That first film caused me weeks of nightmares at the age of 4, but I was over that by the time of the sequel...which I had my grandmother record on her VCR, along with a family friend, and the one at this house at the time. So in case one failed, the other could get it. (While I watched it as it aired in a hotel, in Nashville, on the way back from a shopping trip in case everyone else messed up; power went out on the first two VCR's, but the family friend got it from what I recall.)

Those two movies could be part of why I fell in love with the horror genre.

I am currently going back and forth on whether or not I want to keep my nomination for Bride of Boogedy, or switch to something else, as few have likely seen it, even when it comes obscure fandoms in Yuletide. Over in this comment, anyone curious about it can find a link to the film, as well as the one that preceded it. Over here, you can see the 30 second promo that FearNet made for the night the movies aired for Halloween.

Which Should I Switch My Nomination To?

Murder By Death (1976)

Suspiria (1977)
2 (100.0%)

With Suspiria, it would turn my nominations into a nice little horror trifecta, as the other two were Dark Shadows (1991) and Fright Night (1985). On the other hand, I also love Murder By Death (1976), too.

Given the fact that those on LJ can’t vote in this Dreamwidth poll, simply write in what you wish to vote for in the comments over there.

I finally managed to locate season 1 (season 2 is easily found on the WB’s website) of Pushing Daisies, and rewatched large chunks to refresh my memory. So I can place the series back into my fandom offerings for Yuletide.

So after the last of the reshuffling, the fandoms I’m offering (unless I trade out The Mummy for Indiana Jones again) are: Fright Night (1985), Back to the Future, The Mummy series, Ghostbusters, Pushing Daisies, Addams Family (1991). And the Bucket List includes: Van Helsing (2004), Mockingbird Lane, Lost Skeleton of Cadavra, Anno Dracula Series—Kim Newman, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: 1996, A Study In Emerald—Neil Gaiman, Mannequin, Soapdish (1991), Addams Family (tv 1964).

Just received word from Donna that we’ve hit the end of the road with Nellie and her pancreatic cancer. She’s in the hospital now, having refused hospice at home. Hospice is apparently (didn’t realize they did that in the hospital) just across the hall from her current room in the hospital, so they plan to move her over there.

Finally heard from Phillip (Mom’s brother)—where he’s at, Sandy didn’t dump too much. He’s currently just outside the zone where it would be, so he only received high winds. Meanwhile, all family in Louisiana are fine as of the last anyone heard, since it didn’t go there.

CNN reports that one of Bram Stoker's writing journals has been unearthed.

This month for Halloween, I have now watched for the first time: Subspecies, Bloodstone: Subspecies 2, Warlock, Halloween, Halloween II, Halloween III: Season of the Witch, Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, Wes Craven’s New Nightmare, The Omen (original), Poltergeist, Silver Bullet, The Lost Boys, Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday, The Changeling (1980), Ghost Story (from 1981), House (from 1986), and House II: The Second Story.

I didn’t post about the Zombie Walk. It didn’t take more than 5 minutes for everyone to pass on by. There was a Zombie Chef, two Zombie Ghostbusters, a Zombie Batman and Catwoman, and about 200 others. Including someone’s little Pug puppy, with fake blood on its back. Yesterday, I went to see The Lost Boys—aside from a few technical difficulties (and a grand total of 7 people were there, counting us) that made it a couple minutes late in starting, it went nicely.

The last movie I saw at the theater was The Dark Knight. I don't think there have been any this year that I've wanted to see.

An American Werewolf In London is getting a remake.

For those interested in watching Jeff Goldblum doing his own eulogy while on Stephen Colbert’s show—after he was falsely reported as having fallen off a cliff somewhere in New Zealand, along with Zac Efron and Harrison Ford--you can do so here. I don’t usually like him, but he’s actually funny here.

Does anyone out there happen to have the original intro from Mr. Boogedy? From when it aired on The Wonderful World on Disney, on ABC, back in 1986. I’m looking for it, because I finally located a perfect copy (in my old VHS collection) of Mr. Boogedy, from an airing back in 1994 (also found Bride of Boogedy from the same time frame) on The Disney Channel—but I’m still looking for the Eisner bit.

Where Eisner puts on the magic cloak at the end after the movie’s over, he starts to float away in a green light, and you hear Mr. Boogedy scream off-screen “BOOGEDY!” Eisner then begs for someone—anyone to get him down. You just see his feet at the end, and he says he hopes he’s back down by next week.

The Illyana poll is currently at a tie, for those that want to pick one of the three options, or mention someone else as an option in the comments. Go here to do so. The poll will close Sunday evening. I had considered adding Hayley Williams as an Illyana option at one point, but she doesn’t seem to have facial expressions where she looks annoyed or serious. Just wild, and silly.

Oh, and for those that want to mention someone else, but don’t want to comment, you can write it in in this poll I’ve just made.

[Poll #1247190]

In other news, for those that are interested I just found The Fearless Vampire Killers over on Youtube. I hadn’t seen the movie since it aired on TNT’s Monstervision back in the early 90’s. Part 1 is here. You can find parts 2-8 here, in reverse order on the page. And parts 9-11 are located at the bottom of this page

And someone’s put up the Boogedy movies for those that want to watch both. Watch while you can--before Disney has them removed, like they did when I uploaded them a while back. Bride of Boogedy can be found on this page. Mr. Boogedy can be found on this page, with part 1 at the bottom.

I also found part of Saturday the 14th, here. The person who uploaded it apparently chopped out most of it, so it would fit within 10 minutes. I’m just glad to find anything from it, anywhere. I also found the trailer.

Okay, I have finished uploading all of the rest of Bride of Boogedy. Here are part 6, part 7, part 8, part 9, and part 10.

By the way, does anyone know where I can find the original intros that Michael Eisner (was that his name?) did for the Boogedy movies? If you can find them, I’ll upload them to Youtube.

I uploaded two more parts of Bride of Boogedy. Part 4 is here. Part 5 is here.

Part 5 took a while to get uploaded, by the way. For some reason, there was a black spot that lasted a second. But whenever I went to cut part of the video (and included the blackness), when saved it would suddenly jump from 8 minutes, to 23 hours!

No idea how that happened...

After spending an entire day on it, I managed to fix it.
