Jeff Rice, a Veteran Amazing Race producer, died in Uganda after being poisoned. May he rest in peace. A second was poisoned and seems to have survived, but his name wasn’t mentioned in the article I read. Best wishes to him on a speedy recovery. While I haven’t watched in a couple seasons, I loved that show.

I was surprised to see that I received a virtual LJ gift for Valentine’s Day from a random passerby. So thank you for the glass heart, Blood. It was appreciated. Looks like they’re for everyone that wrote Jack/Rose/Doctor for [profile] betterwiththree at some time or another, given the note.

A warning for those that use Chrome when downloading movies or anything else: “Google has also added some new security functionality to Chrome. Every time that the user downloads a file, the browser will compare it against a whiltelist of known-good files and publishers. If the file isn't in the whitelist, its URL will be transmitted to Google's servers, which will perform an automatic analysis and attempt to guess if the file is malicious based on various factors like the trustworthiness of its source. If the file is deemed a potential risk, the user will receive a warning.”

Eiko Ishioka passed away on January 21st, following a battle with pancreatic cancer. May she rest in peace. Her costuming for Bram Stoker’s Dracula earned her an Oscar. She also designed the costumes Julie Taymor’s Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, and for the upcoming Mirror Mirror.

Ian Abercrombie has passed away, at the age of 77. May he rest in peace. He had just recently completed voice work for the Green Lantern series on the Cartoon Network. Dick Tufeld has passed away, at the age of 69, due to congestive heart failure. May he rest in peace. He was possibly most famous for being the voice of the robot who frequently said “Danger, Will Robinson!” on Lost In Space. According to IMDB, he was also the opening announcer for Spider-Man And His Amazing Friends, as well as The Time Tunnel and Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea. I watched the last two on The Sci-Fi Channel, in its early days.

Oh, and the link I gave for using the old layout of Youtube? They’ve apparently done something to make it stop working, so now you should use this one while you can.

If you’re having difficulty cross-posting between LJ and Twitter or Dreamwidth, that’s because (according to the latest [profile] status update) LJ has temporarily disabled the function until the DDOS attack ends. I’m also hoping we will regain syndicated feed updates at that point in time. Until then, I’m reading them (transferred all of them on a day when LJ was doing well) on Dreamwidth.

Once I hear back from my beta reader, the Yuletide story can go up. I just now decided the title I originally had for the story doesn’t work all that well, and have altered it to one that does.
